If you’ve ever wandered into Bekah Kate’s kitchen store here in downtown Baraboo, you’ve probably noticed our colorful display of Le Creuset cookware—and maybe even heard us gushing about it. It's no secret that we're proud to carry this iconic brand, but we also know it raises a few common questions from our customers. So today, we’re answering your most-asked Le Creuset questions, sharing what makes it so special, and celebrating its amazing history—with a special photo of Bekah with the family who still owns and runs the company!
First Things First… How Do You Say It?
Let’s clear this up: it's “luh-CROO-say.”
Yes, it’s French. Yes, it’s okay if you’ve been saying it differently all these years. We’ll never judge—and you can always just say “that pretty French pot” and we’ll know exactly what you mean.
A Century of Quality, Still Family-Owned
This year, Le Creuset is celebrating 100 years of craftsmanship, color, and kitchen magic. Even more impressive? They’re still family-owned. That’s something we deeply respect here at Bekah Kate’s, where being independently owned ourselves means we know the value of personal care and pride in what you do.
Bekah recently had the incredible opportunity to meet the family behind Le Creuset—check out the photo below of Bekah with them! This kind of connection reminds us why we choose to partner with brands that prioritize people, relationships, and small retailers like us.
Can You Bake with It?
Absolutely. Le Creuset’s enamel-coated cast iron Dutch ovens and braisers are built to go from stovetop to oven—and look beautiful on the table, too. If you’re planning on baking at higher temperatures, we recommend choosing a piece with a metal knob (they’re oven-safe up to 500°F). You can even swap out the knob if you already have a piece with the standard black one.
How Do You Care for It?
Great news: caring for your Le Creuset is easy.
-
Clean immediately – Boil a cup of water in your enamelware pieces after each use, then gently hand wash. If you need something more abrasive, try using baking soda
-
Avoid Metal Utensils– While metal utensils won’t scratch the Le Creuset enamel like they do nonstick, they do leave deposits of metal behind, so it’s best practice to avoid them were possible.
-
Dry thoroughly – Though the enamel protects the cast iron, it’s still good practice to dry your cookware well after washing.
And remember, if you ever have questions, we’re here to help. We’ve seen (and used) just about every piece they make!
A Rainbow of Cookware (and More!)
Le Creuset is known for its vibrant color options—many of which are exclusive or seasonal—and we keep a rotating selection right here in the store. Whether you're looking for their classic Dutch oven, a whimsical flower-shaped pot, or their new chip-and-dip platter (which we’re obsessed with), there's something for every kitchen and every cook.
Their stoneware items like mugs, pie dishes, and mini cocottes make excellent gifts, and their non-stick cookware line is Bekah’s personal favorite for everyday cooking.
Support Local, Cook Global
One of the best parts about Le Creuset? They support small stores like ours. That means we can order individual pieces, get you up-to-date info on what’s available, and even have items shipped directly to your home. It's the best of both worlds—world-class cookware, and a shopping experience rooted in local connection.
Whether you’re building your collection, buying a gift, or just browsing the colors, we’d love to show you why we believe so strongly in Le Creuset. Stop in, feel the quality for yourself, and let’s find the piece that brings a little extra joy to your kitchen.
See you soon,
The Bekah Kate’s Team
